An elected Mayor would essentially replace the existing council leader, with the main difference being members of the Croydon public would be able to elect this person. It does not remove powers from Councillors.

The question of pros and cons is a question which would really be discussed once we reach the point of gaining a borough-wide referendum.

Our only goal is to seek a referendum to allow the public the choice of whether they would like an elected mayor. Once Croydon Council have instigated the referendum, our job will have been completed and it is then up to the "yeah" and "nay" sayers to debate the pros and cons.
